Art & Propaganda in the United States
Saul Steinberg was born in Romania on June 15th, 1914. He was not a supporter of Hitler and Mussolini and went to the US in 1940. Here he started to do work for a magazine, the New Yorker. He joined the United States Navy and fought in North Africa and Italy. While in the war, he also made cartoons that were published in the New Yorker. Here is one of Steinberg’s works.
This work depicts how Hitler had major control over all of the Axis powers, and that going to Russia to fight would lead to their death.
