Espionage in Germany
In 1942, Adolf Hitler ordered the defense branch of the German Military Intelligence Corps to make a program to infiltrate the United States. The program wanted to send about two teams of eight Germans into America every week. On June 12, 1942, the Germans arrived at the American coast off of Long Island, just before midnight. The group was spotted by a member of the coast guard, who acted as though he accepted their bribe, but immediately after ran and told his superiors. A man hunt was launched for the men, who had then fled to New York City. On June 15, two of the men turned themselves in and said they would help catch the other men. By June 27, all of the men had been caught. The two men that turned themselves in were sent to prison. The other men were executed by electric chair on August 8, 1942.
