Art & Propaganda in Germany
Erich Schilling was born in Germany in 1885. He studied art when he was young and became an artist. Before Hitler came to power, Schilling was critical of the Nazi Party. However, after Hitler gained power he became a major supporter. Schilling made many works of art throughout World War II. Here is an example of one of his works.
This work by Erich Schilling depicts Winston Churchill as an old, fat, and lonely drunk. Like many pieces in Germany during World War II, it depicts leaders of other countries in a negative manner.
