Art & Propaganda in France
Jean Pennes was born in France in 1894. Pennes had no formal art training, but his cartoons were still accepted by French newspapers by the time he was sixteen. Pennes used the pen name, J. Sennep, on all his work. However, after World War I started he was called to service. During the 1930s and 1940s he again worked as a journalist and cartoonist. He mainly attacked Hitler and other important Nazis with his work.
This piece depicts Herman Goering as a fat Nazi that only cares about winning awards.
