Espionage in Italy
Espionage in Italy was commonly by either the Servizio Informazione Militari (SIM), or Opera Valantario per la Regressione Dell’ Autifasismo (OVRA). SIM’s had four main jobs, these were espionage, counterespionage, special services like sabotage and assassination, and cryptology. SIM had limited resources, and were very successful for what they had. OVRA was the Fascist’s Party intelligence service. OVRA’s main duties were to specially train troops, and help Italy in the war. After Italy surrendered in 1943, members of the OVRA helped identify Italian citizens that were anti-fascist.
